Sherry Vine, superstar drag queen from New York City, is coming to Stockholm for her first Swedish appearance. Sherry has been performing in drag since 1992, across the United States and Europe, and has headlined almost every Pride festival across the North American continent. Sherry is known for her parodies of popular songs, by artists such as Lady Gaga, Madonna, and Britney Spears, which have brought thousands of viewers to her YouTube channel. In her act, she says: "I’m a little sassy, a little trashy, but not cheap. I’m Barbie on crack."
Sherry Vine (Keith Levy) is a regular performer on the New York City drag circuit. She is the host and creator of a variety series "She’s Living For This" on Here TV. Sherry had her own theatre company, Theater Couture, in New York’s East Village in the 1990s, where she performed with other fellow drag performers such as Jackie Beat. She was a staple act in the West Village lounge Bar d’O, in a weekly show with Joey Arias, Raven O and Sade Pendarvis. Most recently, she collaborated with the "Queen of Mean", Bianca del Rio, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race, and The Glamazons from America’s Got Talent in the song “Hot Mess” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-JOSIqgVVw).

DRAG AS ART is a project aiming at exploring, producing, and presenting performing arts using drag as an artistic expression. Drag can be anything on the spectrum of light entertainment, serious monologues, or shocking avant-garde. We also aim to analyse, experiment with, and expand the term drag. This is to include contemporary gender-bending like boylesque, female to female drag in neo-burlesque and femme faux.
DRAG AS ART is Karin Victorin, initiator and Artistic Director, and Kalle Westerling, performance and theatre scholar. Some of you might know Karin as the creative director of the neo-burlesque Hootchy Kootchy Club. Kalle is writing a dissertation on the formation of the Swedish brand of drag show, and another dissertation for City University in New York about 20th century burlesque and boylesque.
